Chris Head with his first Black Bream – St Georges Basin

Well what a tight finish to the Club’s fishing year! The Club Championship was looking very close in last month’s Recorder’s Report. I was thinking that my name looked good at the top of the table, but I’ve heard there’s been some fantastic fish caught since then. But there’s still time - with a month to go and fish on the bite, anyone could take out the competition.

Next month’s outing is the traditional Queen’s Birthday long weekend trip to Narooma. Our base for the weekend is the Olympic cabins at Island View Caravan Park. I’m still hearing reports of huge Mahi Mahi off Montague and legal Kings at the island…..and early reports of Yellowfin and Albacore at the shelf. Those of us with boats will be praying for flat seas and those without will be praying for a bit of wave action on the beaches to fire up the salmon. It is always a great finale to the fishing year and this year should be no exception. The Club will be providing a free barbeque on the Saturday evening, giving members the opportunity to share the day’s highs and lows and plan Sunday’s fishing. I hope you can make it!
