Hi everyone.

Firstly, a big congratulations to all who participated in the 2017 Canberra Carp-Out. It is the Canberra Fisherman's Club's yearly opportunity to do something for our local community and local environment – and we certainly achieved it this year!

Events like this help raise community awareness of the positive contribution recreational anglers make to the conservation of our waterways. And it certainly raises the profile of the Canberra Fisherman's Club!

This morning, for the second time in a few short months, I was interviewed by print and television media seeking recreational anglers' viewpoint on a news item (this time it was the use of illegal yabby traps). In the front of each newsletter, we print the aims of the Club, including the promotion of sport fishing and the conservation of fish species. Through events like the Canberra Carp-Out, we now have the community profile to really make a difference in these areas.
