Congratulations BOTANY BAY SPORTSFISHING CLUB winning the Burrinjuck Bell.
On 4 – 6 November 2022, 115 anglers from 7 fishing clubs across New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory lined up for the 46th ANSA Burrinjuck Convention at Lake Burrinjuck hosted by the Canberra Fisherman’s Club.
A couple of the CFC members arrived Thursday evening so they could get an early start on Friday morning getting the gear out of the shed ready for when the rest of the team arrived so setup of the Convention HQ at Lawlers could begin

A few changes this year made for a slightly easier setup ready for the Fishos to arrive, check in and grab a feed of spag bol and curried sausages which was well received
For a change the weather turned it on for us with spectacular sunrises while the CFC team was cooking up the morning breakfast of bacon, eggs and sausages.

We sent off all the fishos with a big breakfast so they could face the days fishing on a full stomach. With the recorders tent all setup and the scales turned our recorder Glen sits patiently for the first fish to be weighed in

Then it begins the carp start to come in with the occasional nice yellow belly. Then the stories of fish caught and lost and recaught again start also being told

George Stathakis (jrn) carp going 3.042kg on 2kg line class George hooked this fish and he got it all the way to the boat to lose it and only come up with a scale. Mum held on to the scale for the upset George but, then approx 20 minutes later George hooked up again and landed the fish to find it was the fish he had lost as mum matched the fishes lost scale. Great story and a very happy junior fisho.

You could not ask for a better start to each day with sunrises like this

Burrinjuck traditions were maintained with the Saturday night laughs with the running of Sargent Swell and the memorial Port in memory of Graham Butt

Something that was new this year and from the reaction of our attendees was a great hit, the Burrinjuck cakes as dessert this will now be on the menu into the future

Thanks to the efforts of our small team of members (unfortunately not all in this photo) attending Burrinjuck we were able to again run a successful event

Did someone say more cake, I think they liked it
