NOTICE TO MEMBERS - The 2019 Annual General Meeting will be held at the Croatia Deakin Football, 3 Grose Street, Deakin, ACT 2600 on Tuesday 13th August 2019 from 6:30 pm.

Please join us for this important day on the Club's annual calendar and take the opportunity to have your say on the future of the Club. The Club will provide a super raffle and finger food to help with the celebrations.

Fishing the 2019 ANSA Lake Lyell Convention

Anglers and their boats lined up on the shores of Lake Lyell for the 12th ANSA Lake Lyell Convention.

The Convention was hosted by Sea Bees Fishing Club over 24 26 May 2019 at the Lake Lyell Recreation Park. The Convention is a catch and release length-based comp for Trout and Bass in Lake Lyell, Thompsons Creek Dam and Lake Wallace.

The 51st ANSA Narooma Convention: CFC claims Gold in the Beach, Silver in Estuary, and Bronze for the Champion Club

Cemetery Beach fished best on Friday afternoon. Afterwards, the fish got smaller and smaller each day. But it still produced Convention winning fish over the weekend.

The Narooma Sport and Gamefishing Club hosted the 51st annual ANSA Narooma Convention on 8 – 10 March 2019. This year, the Convention was well attended, with eleven ANSA Clubs from all over New South Wales, including Sydney, Wollongong, Nowra, Canberra, and the South Coast. Glen and Karen Malam, Kevin Spriggs, Steve Bailey, Noel Dix, Chris Head, Wendie McDonald, Brian Stacy and I travelled to Narooma to represent the Canberra Fisherman's Club.

Fishing the ANSA Nowra Convention: 15-17 February 2019

Seventy-five anglers from eight fishing clubs across New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory lined up for the ANSA Nowra Convention at Culburra Beach Holiday Park hosted by the Nowra Sportsfishing Club. The Convention was held over the weekend of 15-17 February 2019.

The 44th ANSA Burrinjuck Convention

One hundred and fifty-seven anglers from 14 fishing clubs across New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory lined up for the ANSA NSW Convention at Lake Burrinjuck hosted by the Canberra Fisherman's Club. The Convention was held over the weekend of 2-4 November 2018.

Fishing the ANSA Glenbawn Convention

A little over 550 km away from Canberra, off the New England Highway just beyond the hustle and bustle of greater Sydney, lies Glenbawn Dam. It's a long drive but, as I discovered, Glenbawn Dam is truly a wonderful fishing spot with plenty to offer. It is there that, each September since 2002, the Newcastle Sportsfishing Club hosts the very first ANSA Convention of the fishing year.

Wild and woolly weather at the Sydney Sportsfishing Tournament

Selfie by Runway 3 at Sydney Airport on Saturday morning. A few locals told me this is a good spot to target Flathead. Unfortunately, the remnants of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Trevor resulted in a lot of stormwater run-off putting the fish off the bite. But I'm looking forward to trying this spot again next year.

Mum's 70th Birthday was 29 March 2019, so what better way to celebrate than driving up to Sydney to fish the Sydney Sportsfishing Convention. The Convention was jointly hosted by the South Sydney Amateur Fishing Association and the St George Sportsfishing Club on 29-31 March 2019.

This was only my second attempt at fishing the convention in Sydney, so I asked the guys at Global Tackle at Kingsford for some advice on land-based spots.
