Firstly, a BIG congratulations to the Burrinjuck Chairperson (Sarah Borman), Sponsorship Officer (Anthony Heiser) and all the members that helped out at the 42nd Annual Burrinjuck Convention. I think entries were down a little this year; a few experienced members couldn’t make it and sponsors were feeling the tight economic times. However, the Club really banded together and things again ran very smoothly — it was a great event, there was a great atmosphere and the Canberra Fisherman’s club has a lot to be proud of – thank you all!
As you read this, I’ll be taking a post-Burrinjuck rest up in Queensland to see what species the Great Barrier Reef has to offer at this time of year. Anthony’s always reminding us to enter photos in the Club’s monthly Photo Competition - I’ll see if I can get a couple of action shots while I’m up there!
Next month sees the opening of the Murray Cod season and with it, our annual (friendly) grudge match with the Morven Fishing Club at Burrinjuck (on the first weekend of the month: 3-4 December 2016). We’ve got some awesome cod anglers in the Club – hopefully the trophy makes its way back to Canberra this year!
