Welcome to final issue of volume 21 of the Canberra Fisherman's Club's Newsletter and to the first month of the 2018-19 Fishing Year. The 2017-18 annual Club Competition has now closed, and the results will be announced at the Presentation Night on 22 September 2018. There have been some truly spectacular captures contributing to members' scores and some truly spectacular failures vying for this year's joke trophies.
In this month's newsletter, we'll be encouraging you to renew your ANSA membership, we have a report on our first outing for 2018-19, held at Wairo Beach, the results of our member survey on the future of the Canberra Carp-Out, and a ripping yarn from Jon Vogel about his recent visit to Far North Queensland.
Jon's epic tale of man versus mighty fish versus marauding sharks in the high seas off Far North Queensland is a worthy successor to Ernest Hemmingway's The old man and the sea, and will no doubt become compulsory reading for third form school boys all over the English speaking world when Jon collects his winnings for the Nobel Prize in Literature.
